No Canada Day fireworks for Creston this year

The town of Creston will not be getting a fireworks show this Canada Day.

Last year, the highly anticipated fireworks display brought out a large crowd of onlookers. But the town has confirmed no such display will happen this year.

A category 2 open burn prohibition, following one of Canada’s worst wildfire seasons yet, was in effect until June 16.

“We faced unforeseen challenges in securing the fireworks for the July first event. Despite our best efforts, time constraints have unfortunately prevented us from making it happen,” stated the town in a release.

However, the release also mentioned that the town is currently looking for alternative dates to host a fireworks display.
