Creston officers attend Yaqan Nuikiy Pow Wow and other community events

Creston RCMP officers were busy with protecting the community and participating in the many community events over the May long weekend, including the Yaqan Nukiy’s Annual Pow Wow.

Officers were honoured to be invited to participate in the Grand Entry to the Pow Wow by Nasukin Jason Louie.

They joined Nasukin, the other band leaders, and the many dancers for the Pow Wow’s Grand Entry.

“My officers and I were honoured to be invited again to this year’s Pow Wow.” said S/Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk Creston RCMP Detachment Commander.

“It is a tremendous honour and greatly humbling every time we are extended invitations to participate in events that celebrate the culture of our local Indigenous community.”

“I would like to thank Nasukin Louis, Council, staff and organizers for having us, and congratulate them on such a successful event,”

Cst. David Bickle said, “Participating in the Pow Wow is always an event I look forward to. I am grateful that I was once again invited to be part of the Grand Entry.

Creston officers also assisted in the Town of Creston’s Blossom Festival. Officers along with other first responders lead the parades during the weekend.

“The whole weekend was an excellent opportunity to be out in our amazing communities. I know that being a part of these community events is a highlight for me and my officers every year, and I hope you all enjoyed the fun-filled weekend.” said S/Sgt. Buliziuk.
