Keep the bus passes and increase disability assistance.
This from Amy Taylor with the Nelson Advocacy Centre.
She is speaking to the BC Government’s decision to cancel a program which previously saw those on disability assistance receive monthly bus passes.
Monthly payments have increased by $77 to offset the cancellation of those transit fares.
Taylor says this highlights the need for a raise in disability payments.
The government says with this new system people receiving payments would have an extra $25 per month after buying a monthly transit pass.
