The Kootenay Lake school board says it wasn’t just trustees who chose the new superintendent.
Dr. Christine Perkins has been announced as the replacement for the retiring Jeff Jones.
Vice-chair Heather Suttie says the decision was made with input from parents and employee groups.
Suttie describes their hiring process as extensive and gruelling for the candidates.
But she says in the end they’re happy with their choice.
Perkins is presently the assistant superintendent of the Nicola-Similkameen district.
She’ll start in September.
