Michael Moore earned position as Creston’s CAO

After having filled the interim position for nine months, Michael Moore has been officially named the Town of Creston’s Chief Administrative Officer.
The appointment was made on March 26 during council. Moore says he’s both humbled and honored to serve the Town.
“Council certainly did some work on validating in which direction they wanted to go as far as administration goes, and I look forward to the challenges that’s going to be presented with this new experience.”
He says he has adopted many roles in local government for 27 years and senior management for 16 years.
“When I came to the Town of Creston in 2007, I was involved in a lot of the municipal decisions. I’ve worked on our collective bargaining with the CUPE Union and I’ve been involved with a lot more than just the fire department over that past number of years.”

In the Town of Creston’s media release, Mayor Ron Toyota says he’s impressed with Moore’s achievements to date including the successful fire hall referendum, updating the Town’s budget process, negotiating contracts and increasing revenues for fire protection and regional services.
Having previously served as fire chief, Moore has graduate certificates in Advanced Fire Service Administration as well as Fire Service Administration Human Resources and Leadership from Dalhousie University.
Moore is also in the process of continuing his studies at Royal Roads University, completing his masters degree in Disaster and Emergency Management with a focus on risk reduction, community resilience and sustainable communities.
