A 30-year-old woman who was caught in an avalanche at Stagleap Provincial Park has died.
It happened December 31 in a popular skiing area off the Kootenay Pass near Cornice Ridge.
Andy Watson with the BC Coroners Service says the incident is under investigation.
She was taken to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail after the avalanche hit but succumbed to her injuries days later.

Watson says it’s a good idea to check Avalanche Canada before venturing into the backcountry.
Her name and and hometown won’t be released.
