Creston RCMP investigating public art vandalization

The vandalism of a public art display has Creston police looking for the culprits.

On July 15, a witness reported three people wearing masks spray painting the new public art on Canyon Street.

Police have yet to find any suspects.

“Our investigation is still ongoing and we are looking for further information to identify the suspects. If anyone has information, we ask them to please contact the Creston RCMP at 250-428-9313,” says RCMP Cst. Brett Urano.

“Our officers that evening conducted extensive patrols but were unable to locate them that evening. So that’s where we are. We’re appealing to the public for more help on locating the suspects or possibly identifying the suspects.”

Urano says they are active in their duties while protecting other art pieces in town.

“We always are doing proactive patrols in everything that we do. We are always on the lookout for anything suspicious or people vandalizing, speeding, or impaired drivers. That’s what we do. As the Creston RCMP, we’re always focused on public safety and keeping the peace here in town. And that’s what we are constantly doing.”
