Creston Christmas parade set for Saturday

Christmas spirit will be marching its way down Canyon Street in Creston on Saturday with the annual Christmas Parade.

The parade is being put on by Kemlee Equipment this year and Chad Wobshall says it will include a Spirit Square Market as well.

“Businesses and organizations will be adding floats, hopefully, all decorated in Christmas spirit.”

The parade will start at 6 p.m. with the market lasting from 4 to 7 p.m.

“We’re going to do the usual stuff that’s been happening for probably 20 years with the spirit square, the fire, and the hot chocolate and hot dogs. And, hopefully, all the downtown businesses are going to be decorated in the spirit and have things going on as well.”

Last year Wild West Drilling hosted the parade, but Wobshall is proud that Kemlee stepped up this year.

“Well, we just wanted to make sure that the tradition continued. Last year, Wild West Drilling did a wonderful job picking up the ball and running with it, and they’ve made a good example. So we want to just make sure that it happens again.”

There will be a $500 prize for the best parade entry.

The free hot dogs are being provided by Famous Frittz Meats, Pealows Independent, and Golden Flour Bakery.

The free hot chocolate will be provided by the BC nurses’ union and Kootenay Meadows.
