A local group with hopes of bringing in a refugee family is looking to raise more funds.
This from chair of the Castlegar Refugee Project Chair Rosemary Manarin.
She says the budget for a refugee family in their first year is around $36,000.
Manarin presented to Castlegar City Council requesting they raise awareness and nurture a welcoming attitude towards a new family from the Middle East.
The group has raised just about half of their goal of $22,000 in funds.
