Town declines to provide details on Creston fire chief’s exit

The Town of Creston is declining to provide details about the departure of former fire chief Jared Riel, describing it as a personnel matter.

Chief administrative officer Mike Moore confirmed to Vista Radio that Riel is no longer employed by the Town, but said no further information would be provided because it is a personnel matter.

Moore also declined to say when Riel’s employment ended.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Riel’s LinkedIn profile still lists him as the Town’s fire chief.

Riel was sworn in as Creston’s fire chief in 2019.

Vista Radio reached out to Riel for comment but didn’t hear back in time of publication.

Laura Dodman has been appointed interim fire chief while the town recruits a permanent director of protective services.
