Lower Kootenay Band looks at land-use planning

The future of the Lower Kootenay Band near Creston is the subject of a community meeting Thursday.

They’re developing a land use plan to provide direction for development over the next five to 20 years.

The plan will help provide direction for where certain land uses will be permitted such as:

  • residential, commercial, recreational facilities, parks, and community facilities;
  • environmental protection areas;
  • infrastructure (such as water, sewer, drainage and roads); and
  • cultural protection and enhancement.

The band says the plan will ensure that the community’s values and quality of life continue to improve as new development occurs.

 The meeting is in the gym at the administration office starting at 5 p.m.
