The Kootenay Doukhobor Historical Society wants an authentic restaurant.
The Bistro which currently sits unused at the Doukhobor Discovery Center in Castlegar is the desired location.
But renovations will cost around $280,000 dollars.
Administrator there Lisa Poznikoff says they have been trying to raise funds.
Poznikoff says they have also applied for the Canada 150 Grant which awards non-profit organizations that build a sense of pride and attachment to Canada.
Her goal is to start the renovations in the spring.
Poznikoff hopes that an official authentic Doukhobor restaurant will boost tourism.
