A Syrian refugee family has been confirmed for Rossland.
Jan Micklethwaite is one of the coordinators of the West Kootenay Friends of Refugees.
She says a family of four- with two young children – are expected to fly out from a refugee camp in Turkey at the end of this month.
The group has also brought in a family from Burma and Eritrea in recent years. Also a single Syrian woman will come to Rossland as part of a private sponsorship.
A fund-raiser to help with general living expenses for the new refugee family is scheduled for Trail’s Charles Bailey Theatre on February 13th.
