The Kootenay unemployment rate was up last month compared to the same time last year.
It stood at 7.5 per cent compared to 6.8 per cent in 2016.
The total number of people working grew by more than 5,000, from 66,300 to 71,900.
But the number looking for jobs also grew by 1,000, from 4,800 to 5,800.

The BC rate fell to 5.2 per cent from 5.8 per cent.
The national rate of 6.3 per cent is the lowest since October 2008.
