Charges dropped in Crawford Bay cheetah case

Charges have been stayed against an East Shore couple in the cheetah incident of December 2015.

Earl Pfeifer and Carol Plato were each charged with possession an alien species without a permit.

But yesterday in Cranbrook Provincial Court the Crown dropped the case.

A cheetah was photographed on the loose at Crawford Bay but it was never found.

The couple own two cheetahs but have been denied permits to have them in BC.

They wanted to bring them to Kaslo in 2013.
