UPDATED: Creston Education Centre’s future still unclear

Nothing further has emerged to save the Creston Education Centre from closing in February.

The board’s request for community proposals was met with silence due in part to the financial requirements involved.

Outgoing superintendent Jeff Jones says the board is still willing to talk about it but their position remains the same.

But Jones says they’re reviewing school use rates based on restored teachers’ contract language.

That could lead to recommendations to change their facilities plan.

East Shore regional district director Garry Jackman remains optimistic about the building’s future.

He says community groups will meet with the new superintendent soon.

Jackman feels the BC Bid process the district used wasn’t appropriate.
