Creston man named BC’s conservation officer of the year

BC’s Conservation Officer of the year is Creston’s James Barber.

He’s been recognized with the award that goes to officers who exemplify integrity and public service.

He’s spent his entire 25-year career in the Creston Valley.

He says he highly recommends the Conservation Service as a career choice.

The government says Barber is the epitome of what a conservation officer should be and has forged strong relationships thanks to his experience and approachability.

They say he’s always willing to share his knowledge and help fellow officers who turn to him for advice.

For the last few years he’s worked with a group to educate residents on co-existing with grizzly bears.
