A local deputy fire chief will be working with the province as a Structure Protection Specialist.
Brad Burnett with the Canyon-Lister fire department was appointed the position from the BC Office of the Fire Commissioner and BC Wildfire Service. He’s one of three specialists in the Kootenays.
Specialists work with fire fighters around the province during wildfire season to help coordinate the protection of structures.
He adds this year he’ll likely be deployed all around the province.
