Town Council has first three readings of Tax Rates Bylaw

Creston Town Council had the first three readings of the 2018 Tax Rates Bylaw at Tuesdays council meeting.

The bylaw regulates mill rates set annually by council based on the amount of taxes required in the Five Year Financial Plan. Director of Finance and Corporate Services Steffan Klassen says the mill rates have changed slightly from last year.

The average tax increase for 2018 is 2.21%.

Mill rates are divided by residential, business and light industry. They’re the amount of taxes per thousand dollars of assessed value as determined by BC Assessment.
