Creston Community Forest participating in Wildfire Preparedness Day

Creston is joining in on National Wildfire Preparedness Day.

Creston Community Forest is hosting an event to inform the community about wildfire behaviour and what prevention measures you can take. Kelsey Syfchuk with Community Forest says everyone is welcome.

The event goes Saturday May 5th from 10 am to 3 pm at the Creston Community Forest’s fuel mitigation block in Canyon.

Syfchuk says it’s important to be prepared, ‘A lot of people know that it’s becoming more and more of an issue and we have to do something about it because it’s kind of inevitable at some point that we’re going to be happy we’ve done something now instead of waiting.’

Directions to the mitigation block: Head east out of town, turn right onto Canyon-Lister Rd (beside Mountain Park Resort), drive for 1.3 km, turn left onto 51st St., follow the road as it turns into Vance Rd, turn right onto 52nd St.
