Highway 3 between Creston and Yahk getting an upgrade

The BC Ministry of Transportation is planning an $11.5 million upgrade to Highway 3 near Creston.

Dawson Construction out of Kamloops will handle resurfacing of Highway 3 from Arrow Creek Road to Yahk and Highway 95 from Kingsgate to Curzon. The project includes:

  • Approximately 11 km on Highway 95 from Kingsgate Border Crossing to the Junction of Higway 3/95
  • 440 m of 50mm mill and fill on the arterial in Creston between 10th and 15th Ave.
  • Approximately 36 km on Highway 3 from East Arrow Creek Road to Yahk which includes some shoulder widening in the three lane section.
  • Approximately 23.5 km of side roads in the Kitchener, Arrow Creek, Kidd Creek, Kingsgate, Yahk and Moyie areas.

A pre-construction meeting is set for the end of May to finalize the construction schedule and discuss potential impacts to traffic. According to MOTI work is expected to begin in June and finish in September, single lane alternating traffic will be permitted during active work.
