Creston RCMP responded to 61 calls for assistance last week according to S/Sgt Ryan Currie:
May 1, 2018
- A report of a possible drug impaired driver did not result in a licence suspension, but did result in the driver being arrested for possession of stolen property as the vehicle had been reported stolen. Also, a warrant was executed on the passenger as well.
- Police received a complaint of a forged cheque. The complainant stated that an ex-spouse forged a signature to obtain money. Investigation continues.
May 2, 2018
- Police were called to investigate a complaint of illegal logging. The complaint was forwarded to the appropriate agency.
- Police were called to intervene in a complaint of assault and utter threats stemming from an ended relationship. Investigation resulted in charges of assault, utter threats, and extortion.
May 3, 2018
- Police were called to investigate a complaint of utter threat over Facebook. No direct threat had been made, and the complainant was advised that the police cannot control Facebook content.
- A complaint from the public regarding an erratic drinking driver on Highway 21 resulted in a police vehicle stop in which the driver was charged for impaired driving and drive over 80 mg%.
May 4, 2018
- While on patrol on Highway 21, police radar clocked a driver at 145km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone. The excessive speed netted the driver a $483.0 fine and a 7 day vehicle impoundment.
- Police were called to intervene in a neighbour dispute in Creston.
- A report of an intoxicated female causing a disturbance at a local restaurant ended in the female spending time in police cells until she sobered up.
May 5, 2018
- Police conducted a “Checkstop” on Highway 3 near Erickson. One driver who attempted to hide a can of beer was also found to be impaired. The driver received a 90 day suspension and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days.
May 6, 2018
- Police were called to a domestic assault involving alcohol. A suspect was arrested and faces charges of assault and utter threats to police.
May 7, 2018
- Police were called to intervene in a neighbour dispute over harassment claims.
