The annual School District 8 Youth Pow Wow took place in Creston recently. Aboriginal Support Worker Janet Zarchukoff says the event has really taken off over the past eight years.
Zarchukoff says a lot of hard work goes into the preparations.
It’s now located in the Rec Centre and was held on Friday, May 18. Zarchukoff says they never know who will show up to enjoy the event.
She says it’s a great celebration of traditions and culture for the students and their families. Unfortunately, attendance at this year’s event was affected by the mud slide in the Kootenay Pass.
