Construction is underway on a new affordable housing project in Creston. The ground breaking ceremony happened at 849 Erickson Road last month. The property is owned by the Kootenay Region Association for Community Living. Chairman Alex Nhilsson says the over $2-million project will take about 18 months to complete.
Nhillson says it may not seem like a lot, but it’ll have a big impact on the new residents, many of whom are people with disabilities.
The Province contributed $2.3-million, plus annual operating funds. A grant of $250,000 also came from the Columbia Basin Trust.
