Busy New Year’s Eve leads to numerous calls for Creston RCMP

Police received 76 calls for assistance from December 31st, 2018 to January 7th, 2018.

 

December 31, 2018

  • Report of a suspicious male approaching a female outside a business in Creston. Police were unable to locate or identify the male. The female was unharmed.
  • Report of a suspicious male walking into traffic on Highway 3 near Kitchener. Police located the male and assisted him in finding transportation home.
  • Called to assist with a disagreement outside a Creston business over one motorist honking at another.
  • Police conducted a checkstop in Creston. Approximately 25 vehicles were stopped. All drivers were sober.
  • Two youth were issued warnings for possessing liquor underage and possessing cannabis underage.
  • Called to a domestic assault in Creston. The parties were separated and charges are pending.
  • Called to assist EHS with a highly intoxicated youth. The youth was transported to hospital for treatment.

January 1, 2019

  • An intoxicated female called the police from outside the detachment looking for her partner. She was transported to safe accommodation.
  • Called to assist with the same male as previously reported walking on Highway 3 near Kitchener.

January 2, 2019     

  • Report of a vehicle stolen from Creston.
  • Report of vandalism in the form of spray paint graffiti to the rear of a business in Creston.
  • Investigated an assault between parties near the Old Ferry Landing.
  • Called to a domestic assault in Erickson. The parties were separated and charges are pending.

January 3, 2019

  • Called to investigate a neighbour possible using a firearm carelessly in Creston. There was no careless use found.
  • Called to assist with a house fire in Sanca. No people were in the residence.
  • Called to assist with a landlord tenant dispute in Kitchener.
  • Report of an unattended fire in a pit in Lister.

January 4, 2019

  • Called to an assault involving two adult males in Creston.
  • Called to a report of a tree falling on a vehicle on Highway 3 at the Kootenay Pass which caused injury to the driver.
  • Report of mischief to a vehicle at a business in Creston by scratching obscenities into the paint.
  • Intervened in a landlord tenant dispute involving eviction and shutting power off.

January 5, 2019

  • Received a report of a stolen lighter and rolling papers in Riondel.
  • Report of a tow truck operating unsafely on Highway 3.
  • Assisted Kingsgate CBSA with an intoxicated American Driver. The driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded, and he was returned to the US.
  • Responded to a bylaw noise complaint in Creston.

January 6, 2019

  • Called to an on-going bylaw noise issue/neighbour dispute in Creston. Further action to be taken to quell the issue.
  • Called to intervene in an on-going landlord tenant dispute.
  • Report of a suspicious male attempting to enter property and vehicles in Erickson. Patrols made, but no suspect found.

January 7, 2019

  • Report of a suspicious male attending a business in Creston. No criminal activity noted.
  • Report of disturbing phone calls laced with profanity to a senior in Creston. Police aware of the caller and are dealing with the situation.
  • Called to a bylaw noise complaint. Ticket issued to the continuous offender.
