The city of Castlegar has issued a Water Quality Advisory and is telling residents to consider boiling their water.
This after a chlorination system malfunction caused levels to drop.
Officials are now flushing out the system to restore the chlorine levels.
They hoped that would be done by later Thursday afternoon.
In the meantime people with weakened immune systems as well as the elderly and infants should be consuming water that has been boiled or use bottled water.
