Creston Airport receives Provincial funding for upgrades

The Creston Airport received  $105,706 from the Province and will build an air-side storage building.

Creston is one of 16 communities that will receive grant funding from the B.C. Air Access Program. Creston-Nelson MLA Michelle Mungall made the announcement on May 30, 2019.

“It’s a very important airport. Not just in terms of fighting wildfires, but also for medevac so this is going to allow our communities to be safer,” Mungall explains. “It’s going to allow people to access health services that might not be delivered to their community but are very necessary for their wellbeing, so this is a very good thing that we’ll be able to maintain this airport.”

The B.C. Air Access Program is in its fifth year and so far over $8 million in funding has been given to airports in rural communities across B.C.
