Wynndel once again avoids Canfor’s curtailment of operations

Canfor announced on June 10 that it will be curtailing its operations at all B.C. sawmills, except the for the facility in Wynndel near Creston.

Wynnwood will be the only sawmill that stays fully operational starting June 17 when the majority of Canfor’s sawmills will be temporarily shut down for two weeks, some lasting until July 26, with extended curtailments of four weeks at Houston and Plateau, and six weeks at Mackenzie.

The decision is due to high fire prices, and it will reduce Canfor’s output by approximately 200 million board feet.

Canfor shared in their media release that, company wide, it will have 12 sawmills in Canada with total annual capacity of approximately 3.55 billion board feet.
