4-year old girl, 26-year old man killed in collision Monday night

CRESTON, B.C – A 26-year old man and a 4-year old girl was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 3 west of Creston last night.

Police say the crash was a head-on collision between a Saturn SUV, driven eastbound by a lone occupant, and a westbound RV transporting a family of five from Alberta.
The crash resulted in the RV coming to rest on its roof and caught fire.
Four of five family members made it out, while a 4-year-old girl sleeping in the back of the RV was declared deceased on site.

The driver of the Saturn SUV, a 26-year old local man was also killed in the collision.
According to a Tuesday morning news release from RCMP, evidence suggests his vehicle crossed the midline of the highway.
Police also say evidence suggests the 26-year old man was heading back home from Shambhala, and they do not rule out that he might have been impaired.
The festival had ended at the time of the incident.
Police say they will be enhancing traffic enforcement during the departure of the remaining festival attendees.

Anyone with information regarding this collision, including any dash camera video, is asked to call East Kootenay Traffic Services at 250-420-4244.
