RDCK working on wildfire mitigation

Half a dozen local areas are in the process of having their forest interface thinned out.

It’s all part of the latest wildfire mitigation efforts by the RDCK.

The areas include those around the Blewett Fire Hall, Brent Kennedy School and Morning Mountain recreation area.

RDCK Emergency Program Coordinator Noreen Clayton says these are higher risk locations with more to come.

Local government only has to pay 10% of the cost of the forest clean-up with the bulk coming from a provincial fund.
