Fred Thomson told city council there have been far fewer interactions with dog owners than the previous year.
When he observed animals that weren’t on a leash, or were tied up, most people responded positively.
Thomson says so far the concerns about unleashed dogs or dog feces littering the streets have not come to pass.
Nelson’s ban on dogs had been around for over 20 years before it ended in February.
