Some people in the community have an understanding of the seriousness of the Nelson and area drought but others have not.
This from Jan Inglis who is among a group of concerned residents – including climate change advocates and local politicians – who want more done to address the issue.
They have written an open letter calling on local government to do more to highlight the level 4 water restrictions and the need for conservation and carbon emissions reduction.
Inglis says they’re planning a community forum in the spring and with another dry winter in the forecast Nelson’s water shortage may yet get worse.
