Chambers support Castlegar Airport study

The Executive Director of the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce says there is strong support across the region to look at any way to increase reliability at the airport at Castlegar.

Things are particularly bad November through February.

Tammy Verigin-Burke is speaking to the survey of businesses that is currently being done to establish who is using the airport and who is choosing to use other regional facilities instead.

The survey responses will form part of the city of Castlegar’s future business plan for the airport and any possible improvements to grow passenger traffic.

The airport had a plus 90% arrival/departure success rate when the entire 2014 stats are considered. But it saw nearly half of all flights cancelled in January and over 25% cancelled in February.
