Interior Health has put the brakes on the possible shutting down of laundry services at a number of hospitals including Kootenay Lake in Nelson.
In a prepared statement Chris Mazurkewich the new President and CEO of IH, said he will take additional time in reviewing the complexities of the issue.
The workforce and local government are up in arms over the possible contracting out of laundry to the Lower Mainland.
In Nelson alone up to 17 jobs are at stake.
IH has previously stated the cost of investing in new laundry machines is too costly to keep the locally-run service going.
