Weather to impact roads, mountain passes

Warmer temperatures and heavy rains will call for some dodgy driving conditions on our local roads and mountain passes.

This from Ken Lawson, the Division Manager at Emcon for the Kootenay Boundary.

The freeze point is expected to be above 2,000 feet which means a lot of melting snow will call for slushy conditions and a heightened risk of avalanches.

Crews will be performing avalanche control on the Kootenay Pass prompting a closure between 10am through 2pm.

We should expect up to 40mm of rain by tomorrow.
