New NPD officer sworn in

Nelson Police have issued the following media release.

Mr. Adam Sutherland became police constable #84 today, after being sworn in by Provincial Court Judge Donald L. Sperry. Constable Sutherland joins the Nelson Police Department after serving almost eight years as a correctional officer with BC Corrections.  Adam had worked at Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre until 2015 when he moved to Prince George to continue his career with corrections and to be with extended family.

Adam was selected from amongst 110 applicants for the rare opportunity to become a police recruit. He will commence training on January 25th, 2016 at the Justice Institute of BC.

As both Adam and his wife grew up in a small community, they look forward to raising their two boys in Nelson. When not policing, Adam enjoys running, weightlifting and outdoor activities, including kayaking, hiking and camping.  Adam is excited about the prospect of returning to downhill skiing, something he did in his youth.
