Funding sought for Johnsons Landing water supply

There’s hope that the small community in Johnsons Landing will finally be able to afford a secure water supply.

The infrastructure was ripped away by the fatal landslide in 2012 and residents have since relied on an informal pipe system from Gar Creek.

But Rural Area Director Aimee Watson says a new federal funding option has opened up for non-profits and the RDCK is backing that application.

The Gar Creek Water User non-profit needs around $200,0000 to construct a formal, safe access to the source which lies beyond the landslide zone.
