Bylaw officer to be hired for rural Creston

Rural Creston will get a part-time by-law enforcement officer at a cost of $41,000 a year.

That’s one of a few new positions the Regional District of Central Kootenay board has approved.

Chief administrator Stuart Horn says they hope to be more responsive to bylaw complaints around Creston.

The board also approved hiring three summer FireSmart ambassadors at a cost of up to $40,000, although it depends on a Canada Summer Works grant.

And they converted a temporary GIS technician position to permanent.

The board is still thinking about hiring a wildfire mitigation co-ordinator at a cost of $87,000 a year.
