The Kootenay Lake school district expects to add the equivalent of 11 full-time teachers next week.
It’s thanks to the district’s $500,000 share of a $50 million fund to hire more teachers in BC, the result of an agreement between the provincial government and BC Teachers Federation following a Supreme Court of Canada ruling.
Human resources director Deanna Holitzki says 18 postings went out Friday and three more on Tuesday.
Most postings close today. The positions run from Feb. 1 to the end of June.
Every school and program gets at least a few more hours but it’s largely based on enrolment.
