Police received 59 calls for assistance from January 15th to January 22nd, 2019.

 

January 15, 2019

  • Police attended to a call of a suspicious vehicle in Creston. Police located the vehicle and found the driver to be prohibited from driving, and in possession of illegal narcotics as well as property believed to be stolen.  The suspect was held in police cells and charged.
  • A vehicle reportedly stolen from Creston was located just outside town.
  • Responded to a disturbance at a local business that involved a domestic child custody disagreement.
  • A call of an injured deer was referred to BC Conservation Officers.
  • A report of a stolen vehicle turned out to be a civil dispute between a separated couple.
  • Called to domestic disturbance. No assault or injuries occurred.

January 16, 2019

  • Report of a break and enter to a residence in Creston. Unknown if anything was taken.
  • Called to a residence to assist with a youth who was out of control with his parents. Matter was calmed with police arrival.
  • Report of email fraud.
  • Report of licence plate thefts in Crawford Bay.
  • Report of a suspicious male at Kingsgate taking photos of residences and claiming he was a bank employee.  

January 17, 2019     

  • Report of criminal harassment stemming from a post on Facebook involving a speeding vehicle.  
  • Report of harassment and threats between youth.
  • Police investigated a theft of a cake from a local business. A suspect known to police was identified, and will be facing charges.

January 18, 2019

  • Two other local businesses reported thefts on this date identifying the same individual who allegedly stole the cake. Charges are pending.
  • Report of drug activity in Creston. Investigation on-going.

January 19, 2019

  • Report of suspicious lights on a mountain near Yahk.
  • Report of young people drinking and yelling near the Recreation Centre in Creston. Police patrolled, but found no suspects. Attended a family dispute in Lister where alcohol was a factor.

January 20, 2019

  • Report of a possible impaired driver or driver in medical distress. Police located the driver and found him to be safe and sober.
  • Report of an attempted break and enter to a residence in Wynndel.

January 21, 2019

  • Called to assist RCMP Federal Crime Unit and Kingsgate Border Services with a driver entering Canada found in possession of a large amount of controlled narcotics. Investigation continuing.
  • Report of an illegally intercepted money transfer.
  • Report of suspicious activity with a group attending Creston involved in protests. Police monitoring.
