The Town of Creston has appointed fire chief Michael Moore as its interim chief administrative officer.
The Town says there are two big projects related to emergency services that require immediate attention during the next few months.
That includes negotiating the Emergency Management program with the Regional District of Central Kootenay and developing a long term solution to address deficiencies at the existing fire hall. Mayor Ron Toyota says he has the utmost confidence that Moore will provide the continuity and stability that is needed at this time.
After the 2018 election, council will decide upon a recruitment process for the permanent position.
Moore takes over from Lou Varela, who resigned in April but stayed on until this week. On the same day that Moore’s appointment was announced, Varela was introduced as the new interim chief administrator of Oak Bay.
